Back From the Dead

Hi Mom and one other reader,

It’s been a while! You can blame this on my lack of facebook and friends, but I’ve missed this blog terribly. I’ve missed writing about fashion and myself.

I’ve decided for my first post BACK IN THE GAME I would do a style coveting post for Brigitte Bardot. My bangs have been growing out lately, plus I found this BA makeup tutorial that totally gives me that sexy french sex kitten look, so why not steal her style, too? The babe’s a babe, amiright? Plus the hot shorts/sweater combo is perfect for spring. Je T’aime!

Kahlo-fornia

Being in California has made me feel like Helena Bonham Carter. Everything here is so bright and colorful, with a retro twist, while I sit, bouncing the sun off my translucent skin like Edward Cullen only WISH he could. (I can’t believe I just made a Twilight reference.)

I’ve realized I need more color in my life.

While I was combing through some books in Venice Beach today, I came across one of Frida Kahlo. The cover was a close-up portrait, with her gorgeous red lips and tanned skin against a turquoise background, and I thought… God, I wish I could be wearing something like that right now.

So, I decided my slow introduction of color into my wardrobe in celebration of spring and warmth would be based off the glorious Kahlo, and her love of color and brightness, while still possessing enough feminine angst that I can totally dig her style and not feel like a traitor to my sullen side.

I really liked this picture, so I decided to use it for inspiration.

Oof. Love those colors.

Jane Birkin

So occasionally I will find someone who has impacted the fashion world greatly with a flawless and timeless sense of style. Today this person is Jane Birkin. I’m kind of (if you’ve noticed) going through a 60s romanticist phase, so yeah, Jane Birkin is up there with the greats for me. Her hair, her long legs, her look-I’m-wearing-something-that’s-see-through-but-who-cares-cause-I’m-a-badass outfits…

Usually I won’t do this, but because I just got InDesign I was excited to try a layout in magazine form.. but have yet to find out how to compress it and upload it as an image.. so you can see it if you click the link and it will be HUGE. But awesome. Usually I’ll just continue uploading the images as I had done, I just thought this might be a nice change to see it formatted together. Who knows.
